For a four day week, we got at least 5 days worth of work finished. It has been awesome. If you haven't seen the pictures of students on laptops responding to literature, take a minute and look at the homepage. Nineteen days of school and they rocked!
Students created a response to literature and added it to a virtual bulletin board. The really neat thing is they can then respond to each other, having a virtual conversation about weather.
Take a minute and scroll down to our Padlet page on the menu. Follow the link and read some of the posts. You are welcome to respond to your child's post on the page, too.
Padlet is one of many technologies we are using this year. Look for more of this to come!
I am adding a Voki link to my page, too. We haven't tried this as a class yet. Mr. Smith just introduced us to it today. I told the kiddos that I would post the link so they could practice at home and be ready to create one, an avatar, in school. Once students create a Voki at school I will post them to our website. If you want to see how we used it last year, look on the historical figures page on my website. Scroll down to see what last years kiddos created.
Next week is picture day! September 9th and we have music so no paint or PE running around to mess up student pictures.
Look for a letter in today's folder about testing.
I will wrap up this number unit and the unit on weather this next week. Students will start a new unit on maps and globes in Social Studies and Graphing in Math. We will continue reading and writing much the same with a focus on characters in Reading and "watermelon" stories, or zooming in on small moments, in writing.
Have a wonderful weekend with your family.
